Today is a day of good news and bad news so let’s start with the good news. The letter we sent to the Governor has been a media success! Yesterday and today have been busy with multiple requests for member interviews with tv, radio and newspapers. Our message of being ready to responsively open Michigan retail greenhouses and garden centers has gone around the state and we need to keep sharing the message. Dale Buist had a great interview with WZZM-13 in Grand Rapids on their evening News: https://www.wzzm13.com/article/news/health/coronavirus/greenhouses-will-do-whatever-it-takes-to-open-their-doors-by-may-1/69-5ff1ee64-5e77-475e-a069-7b84844f79f0 and we have had excellent coverage in MLIVE: https://www.mlive.com/public-interest/2020/04/michigan-greenhouses-garden-centers-submit-may-1-reopening-plan-to-governor.html, both sharing how our industry is working hard to ensure our employees and customers will be kept as safe and healthy as possible. Dave Mast, Chris Schwartz and newcomer Adam Willson have been very busy sharing our story with their local and statewide media. Thank you to everyone who has helped spread the word.
Now for the bad news….. the USDA has sent out a release today letting us know they have found Ralstonia in Michigan. I don’t have any more information yet other than what they put in their release. I will try to find out more about this as soon as I can
Keep up the great work sharing our message on Facebook and other social media platforms! It is getting to all parts of the state many times over. Thank you.
